Alistair Overeem stopped Junior dos Santos via technical knockout in the co-main event at UFC on FOX 17 in Orlando on Saturday.
Overeem landed a well-placed left hand that began the finishing sequence, earning the TKO at 4:43 of Round 2.

The heavyweight bout started with both fighters looking tentative to engage, picking only single strikes at moments far apart from each other. It wasn’t until Overeem landed a left hand that bloodied up dos Santos’ nose. Very few strikes were thrown in the opening round.
Overeem began to land in more volume in the second round, picking off at JDS with leg and mid kicks throughout the frame. Another punch to the face, however, opened up a cut on dos Santos’ face and produced even more blood.
Overeem then landed a counter-left hook that sent dos Santos falling back to the canvas in a daze. Overeem pursued his fallen opponent to the ground and finished him off with hammer fists as dos Santos struggled to get back to his feet.
With the win on Saturday, Overeem is a winner of three in a row and puts himself in prime position for heavyweight title contention.
