Demetrious Johnson retained his UFC flyweight title with a masterful performance at UFC 191 in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Johnson endured five rounds, eventually showing his championship grit in the latter rounds to earn a unanimous decision with judges’ scores of 49-46, 49-46 and 50-45.

The two flyweight combatants showed their quickness right out of the gate. Johnson controlled the center of the Octagon for the majority of the stanza. He shot in for three takedowns, but was stuffed on all attempts. The champ landed two notable strikes in a scramble, but the first round remained close as can be.
The fight remained competitive in the second. Johnson began to edge the challenger with head shots, however, pulling slightly ahead as the two journeyed into the third round.
Johnson started to open up in the third, landing a number of effective strikes throughout the round. At the end of the frame, he attempted a flying knee and got caught on the way in. The round ended just as Johnson was clipped with a right hand.
Johnson began to overwhelm Dodson in the fourth, landing a couple lead right hands and securing takedowns. He continued his domination in the fifth and secured two slam takedowns to emphasize on the dominant performance.
With the win, Johnson sustains his unbeaten record at flyweight and improves his record to 23-2-1.
